The prizewinning sibling duo Julie and David Coucheron will hold their debut concert in New York at Weill Recital Hall, Carnegie Hall, October 17th at 8pm.
Originally from Oslo, Norway, Julie and David Coucheron both began their musical careers at an early age. They have already established international careers, toured the world and worked with highly acclaimed conductors and orchestras.
Mr. David Coucheron (b. 1984) earned his Bachelor of Music degree from The Curtis Institute of Music, his Master of Music from The Juilliard School, and his Master of Musical Performance from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. Mr. Coucheron has worked with a wide range of internationally acclaimed conductors and performed as a soloist with orchestras including the BBC Symphony Orchestra, the Sendai Symphony Orchestra and the Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra,
In 2009 Mr. Coucheron was appointed the new Concertmaster of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, the youngest Concertmaster of any major U.S.Orchestra. He plays a 1725 Stradivarius, and 1753 Guadagnini.
At twenty-five years of age, Ms. Julie Coucheron (b. 1986) is a well established musician, winning first prize in all the national competitions she has attended. Ms. Coucheron has worked with musicians such as Lazar Berman, Claude Frank, Emanuel Ax, Vladimir Feltsman, John O’ Connor, Elton John and Chistopher O’Riley and has toured Europe, America, South America and Asia.
In 2002 she released her first recording, ‘Debut’ on the Naxos label, together with her brother David. The response was excellent and it sold more than 40.000 copies in Norway alone. They released their second recording ‘David and Julie’ on the Mudi/Naxos label in September 2008. This recording contains sonatas by Grieg and Brahms and got brilliant reviews.
For their concert in Carnegie Hall, Julie and David will perform works by Edvard Grieg, Christian Sinding, Johan Kvandal and Franz Waxman.
