Munch Reflection – a concert in NYC

For the very first time pianist and composer Aksel Kolstad will perform one his small Edvard Munch concert-reflections through a musical and creative perspective in NYC. The concert reflects his interpretation of Edvard Munch's art and paintings. Kolstad makes music that accompanies Munch`s art and tells stories inspired from the parts of Munch`s life seldom told. The material is based on stories written by Christine Munch, a decendant from Edvard himself.

The concert will be held the 16th of February, 2013 at 6 PM.

Suggested donations: 15 USD

The concert is sponsored by Porsche Center Oslo

"For the past months the Norwegian pianist, composer and former “Edvard Munch Ambassador”, Aksel Kolstad (also Metier Artist in Residence) has performed his Edvard Munch reflections at the Munch Museum in Oslo for a “screaming audience”. Now he is performing his small concert-reflections through a musical and creative perspective in NYC for the first time. The Scream is sold, but there is a new scream in town – an artistic scream that started in 2010 when Kolstad had his debut in Carnegie Hall with a full house and a standing ovation. And now he´s back, screaming for more."

TIME Magazine recently wrote a small article about Kolstad and his concert venue in Oslo worth reading.
