Renowned Norwegian singer and performance artist Nils Bech will perform songs from and launch his new album Look Inside as part of SculptureCenter’s SC Evenings event-based public program series. For his performance at SculptureCenter, Bech will incorporate sculptural objects as props and stage elements developed by fellow artist Eirik Sæther. In addition, the composer and musician Julian Skar will perform the music. Bech uses objects, environments, movement and music to develop minimal performances that support his haunting songs. This will be the U.S. premier of this new album.
Nils Bech, born 1981, is a Norwegian singer and performance artist. He has had concerts and performances in galleries all over the world since his acclaimed debut album "Look Back" saw the light in 2010. His second album "Look Inside" was released in Norway on the 2nd of November and in Europe and the United States in January 2013. His performances includes the 54th Venice Biennale, Ica, New Museum; New York, PS1 MoMA; New York, Institute of Contemporary Art (ICA); London, Frieze Foundation; London and the Bonniers Konsthall; Stockholm among others. In his native Norway he has performed at the Ultima festival, Øya Festival, Kunstnernes Hus, The National Gallery, The Norwegian Opera House, The Office of Contemporary Art, Henie Onstad Art Center and Kunsthall Oslo. Bech was granted Norwegian State scholarship for young artists "Statens Arbeidsstipend for yngre etablerte kunstnere" 2012-2014. The 2nd of November he released his second album, Look Inside, in Norway to great reviews. The album will be released in Europe and the US the 11th of January.
