Silya Summer Residency at the Living Room in NY

As she gears up for the forthcoming release of her debut album, Peel Away, pop cabaret singer/performer and multi-hit songwriter SiLyA will kick off a summer residency at The Living Room in New York City on July 14, with further performances scheduled for July 28 and every Tuesday in September

The Oslo, Norway native and now NYC resident wowed audiences at the renowned downtown venue over four weeks this past May and is returning due to popular demand.

Produced by Grammy award-winner Scott Jacoby, the artistically fascinating Peel Away features voice, guitar, cello, tuba, handclaps, and foot stomps as its entire instrumentation base.  Organic and soulful, the record was inspired by such disparate sources as Duke Ellington, Billie Holiday, Bjork, Edith Piaf and Mike Patton
.
SiLyA studied Jazz and Contemporary Dance at the Oslo National Academy of the Arts.  She has combined that background along with experience in musical theater and a life-long love of old Hollywood movies to create a show that is both glamour and humor, quirkiness and performance art.    “It’s about pulling the audience into my world of glamour and eccentric fun,” said SiLyA of the upcoming performances.  “I hope to melt the tough New York crowd and give them something unique by not just presenting music, but alluring theatrics and a sense of humor as well.  Playing The Living Room is a real honor every time.”

Most notable in her native country for her work in late-90s/early-00s hip-pop group Multicyde, which laid claim to three No. 1 hits in Norway, SiLyA moved to New York in 2006.  She’s enjoyed much success as an in-demand songwriter since, working with big name producers such as Cee-lo (Gnarls Barkley), Printz Board (Black Eyed Peas, Macy Gray), Lester Mendez (Shakira, Nelly Furtado) and J.R. Rotem (Rihanna).  SiLyA is the mastermind behind several hit singles over the past year, including two gold singles and a lead track for Disney starlet Vanessa Hudgens (High School Musical).
