A grand operetta in the truest sense, Song of Norway pays homage to the music and story of Norwegian composer Edvard Grieg with the perfect combination of thrilling melodies, brilliant lyrics, humor and romance. The Collegiate Chorale will give Wright and Forrest's 1944 classic a fresh and festive presentation on April 30, 6:30 pm at Carnegie Hall, featuring Broadway talents Jason Danieley, Alexandra Silber, Santino Fontana, Walter Charles, Marni Nixon, David Garrison, and Judy Kaye, with Tom Gold Dance, the American Symphony Orchestra, and Conductor/Director Ted Sperling.
Romantically portrayed and with glorious music, Song of Norway tells the story of composer Edvard Grieg as he dreams of international fame, but after experiencing it under the patronage of a famous Italian prima donna, realizes where his true creativity lies, and returns to his two loves: childhood sweetheart Nina and his home in Bergen, Norway. Set in 1860, Robert Wright and George Forrest (of Kismet) cleverly weave Grieg’s compositions together in this operetta/musical.
Join The Collegiate Chorale on April 30, 6:30 pm at Carnegie Hall for a magnificent evening of song, dance, glamour, and fjords, featuring the 170 voices of The Collegiate Chorale, the talents of the American Symphony Orchestra, choreography inspired by Balanchine ballet and traditional folk dance performed by Tom Gold Dance, and the best and brightest stars of Broadway, with conductor/director Ted Sperling at the helm.
