U.S. Premiere of Franz Neruda’s “Cello Concerto”

The New York Scandia Symphony will be performing Franz Neruda’s “Cello Concerto” at Trinity Church on the 9th of March in New York.

Dorrit Matson, Music Director and Conductor, leads the New York Scandia Symphony in a program highlighted by the U.S. Premiere of Franz Neruda’s "Cello Concerto", with Jonathan Aasgaard making his U.S. debut as the featured soloist.

The New York Scandia Symphony and Dorrit Matson have recorded four CDs on the Centaur Records label, including two Carl Nielsen discs.  Reviewing the ensemble’s Bernhard Henrik Crusell CD, Fanfare magazine commented: “The New York Scandia Symphony is tonally strong, poised, and plays with all the confidence one would expect from a handpicked ensemble.”

Other works include Ernest Bloch’s Prayer from the suite "From Jewish Life" (arranged by Jonathan Aasgaard), the U.S. premiere of Poul Schierbeck’s "I Danmark er jeg Fodt" (as arranged for string orchestra), Emil Hartmann’s "Cello Concerto" and Carl Nielsen’s "Symphony No. 6".

The concert will take place at historic Trinity Church, and a donation of $2 is suggested. For more information, please call (212) 602-0747 or visit www.nyscandia.org.
