360° Dance Company 5th Anniversary

360° Dance Company is proud to present its 5th Anniversary Season at the Ailey Citigroup Theater, Joan Weil Center for Dance, Oct 18-20, 2012. Opening night will feature a GALA performance, including a special retrospective of the company's past works, and a wine toast at intermission.

360º Dance Company will present our fifth anniversary performance season October 18-20, 2012 at the prestigious Ailey Citigroup Theater/Joan Weill Center for Dance in Midtown Manhattan. A centerpiece of this season will be Norwegian-American Artistic Director Martin Lofsnes’ world premiere dance work “Near Dark.” This piece is based on the writings of acclaimed Norwegian painter Edvard Munch, in which Martin explores the commonalities between his own Norwegian upbringing and Munch’s unique cultural perspective. The title of the work reflects the concept of Twilight, a time that is prevalent in Norway and informs much of Munch’s work. Embedded in this time between day and night, light and darkness, is the idea of a transitional period in a person’s life; the threshold between the beginning of one thing and the ending of another. This year marks the time when Mr. Lofsnes has lived in America longer than he previously lived in Norway, a middle ground in which he desires an especially strong connection with his Norwegian roots. In this piece, he revisits his early influences and impressions, growing up in Norway.

Tickets available at www.360fullcircle.net or at the door.
