PERSONA by ANE LAN will be performed at the Defilibrator Performance Gallery in Chicago Sunday June 10 at 7pm. It is a part of the RAPID PULSE International Performance Festival.
Presented in a White Cube Gallery space, PERSONA takes form as a occult ritual, investigating the worshiping of personality in contemporary media Industry though the diffuse concept: stage charisma. A female dancer goes through different emotional and psychological stages revealing a complex relationship to the audience and her 6 male accompanies. PERSONA invites to a contemporary reading of Freuds Narcissism complex through references to early 20th century feminist performance strategies by women artists as Valerie de Saint-Point, Mary Wigman, Vera Fokina and others, and the exploration of the psyche in the 1966 Ingmar Bergman film PERSONA.
PERSONA is featuring: Beata Kretovicova Iden
The performance comany ANE LAN is exploring contemporary concept of live art and aliveness in the face of a culture dominated by an all-embracing commercial entertainment industry (referring to the theories of Guy Debord, Jean Baudrillard and Dany Robert Dufort). Through different media as live performances, music, video/film and photography, ANE LAN and his collaborators investigate the domestic and personal condition of history, creating portraits of silence, of extraneousness, of incongruity, but also icy political verdicts.
