American Dance Guild Performance Festival in New York presents Einy Åm

New York based Norwegian dancer and choreographer Einy Åm, will be performing the solo To Listen from her latest piece Encounter, a commissioned work for dance and string quartet by Magnar Åm. The performance is part of the American Dance Guild Performance Festival 2011, and will take place on Saturday Feb 26th at 3pm.

The American Dance Guild Performance Festival 2011 offers 6 different programs with work by 37 choreographers from around the globe. The program ranges from modern masters, to post-modern pieces, performance art and cultural hybrids, revealing the remarkable diversity of contemporary dance styles.

This years festival honors three dance giants:
Jane Dudley: one of modern dance’s earliest social-protest choreographers
Paul Sanasardo: legendary dancer, choreographer and teacher, mentor to Pina Bausch
Linda Tarnay: brilliant dancer, choreographer and educator

from Past to Present

The star studded cast will include a wide range of dancers including:
Mary Anthony, Arthur Aviles, Germaul Barnes, Janis Brenner, Jacqulyn Buglisi, Terese Capucilli, Christine Dakin, Carmen deLavallade, Douglas Dunn, Deborah Jowitt, Martin Lofsnes, Don Redlich and Wendy Perron.

Two of JANE DUDLEY’s inimitable solos, Harmonica Breakdown and
Time is Money, will be shown, as well as a new work, Disappearances, by PAUL SANASARDO.
Mr. Sanasardo will be interviewed by author, Mark Franko, in a
post performance discussion followed by a reception.

Saturday and Sunday
2/26 and 2/27 @ 3pm & 8pm
Come celebrate the dancers of the present, savor the accomplishments
of the past, and look into the future! The Festival features two other renowned artists with performances of rarely seen works.
Verb Ballets will perform SOPHIE MASLOW’s Dust Bowl Ballads and Betsy Fisher will perform MARY WIGMAN’s Hexentanz.
