Mina Loy's "Crystal Pantomime" in New York

Detail from Detail from "I don't speak" by Marthe Ramm Fortun

The Poetry Project at the famous St. Marks Church will feature a performance of Mina Loy's play "Crystal Pantomime" with Norwegian artist Marthe Ramm Fortun on the 29th of January at 10pm.

The Poetry Project at St. Marks Church has since 1966 produced and housed events featuring poets, writers and artists with an inovative and experimental view on art and textuality. On the 29th of January the multitalented Mina Loy's (1882 – 1966) unpublished play "Crystal Pantomime” will be performed at this legendary venue as produced by Kari Adelaide Razdow. The Poetry Project at St. Marks Church has previously showcased acclaimed artists such as Vito Acconci, Allen Ginsberg, Patti Smith, Yoko Ono and Jim Carrol. “Crystal Pantomime” is to be performed using the simultaneous braiding of several voices while individual performances by Marthe Ramm Fortun, Vanessa Albury, and Crystal Curtis accompany each of the play’s three acts.

Marthe Ramm Fortun is a visual artist from Norway who received her MFA in Studio Art from New York University as a Fulbright Scholar. Marthe creates live works that live and operate in an interesting landscape between drawing, sculpture and performance. She is interested in the play between reality and fiction. Most recently her work was featured at Perform Williamsburg for NY State Parks, Markers VII at the ScalaMata Gallery, as part of the Official Program of the 53rd Venice Biennale and at the SculptureCenter, LIC. Marthe divides her time between Oslo and Brooklyn.
