Ten Norwegian artists are paired up with ten New Yorkers in this group show curated by David Gibson. The opening reception is held Friday, the 1st of March between 6 and 8 PM. The exhibition is held at the NOoSPHERE Arts gallery located on the Lower East side of Manhattan and will be on view March 1 - 31.
For I Am My World, a show that combines painting, drawing, sculpture, photography and installation, the NYC curator David Gibson has paired 10 Norwegian artists with 10 New Yorkers. The theme of the exhibit is The Self as subject matter: with various degrees of directness, these artists all use themselves as the point of departure for exploring issues of identity and finding one's place in the world. NOoSPHERE is an artist-initiated, not-for-profit venue for exhibits, performances and other contemporary arts programming. With a special focus on Norway, their scope is international: NOoSPHERE invites a wide range of artists from elsewhere to share their work with the New York City audience in aims of creating cross-border relationships to develop a diverse, transnational community of artists and art patrons.
