May Rolstad Trien in The Salmagundi Club Black and White Exhibition

The Salmagundi Club, at 47 Fifth Avenue at 12th Street in New York City, will hold its yearly historic Black and White Exhibition from Monday, January 23, through Friday, February 10, 2012. Awards Reception: Friday, February 3rd, 6:00 to 8:00 pm. Open to the public: Monday through Friday, 1 to 6 pm; Saturday and Sunday 1:00 to 5:00 pm.

May Rolstad Trien will be exhibiting two pencil drawings in this Black and White show. Her work consists mostly of oil paintings and graphite pencil drawings, both executed in a highly realistic style. She exhibits frequently, and has won many awards. Rolstad Trien grew up in Norway, and studied art there as well as in England, Spain, and in New York City where she is a long time resident.

As the name of this exhibition indicates, it consists solely of black and white or sepia monochromatic drawings, graphic prints, photographs, paintings and sculptures, all made by artist members. The Salmagundi Club, which is housed in its own brownstone mansion, was founded in 1871, and is one of the oldest art organizations in the United States
