No Latency - an exhibition by Sara Skorgan Teigen and Federico Grandicelli
NEW YORK CITY: TF Cornerstone presents a special exhibition on 505 West 37th Street: Federico Grandicelli and Sara Skorgan Teigen spent months drawing and painting on photographic paper in the total darkness in their bathroom or in the color darkroom. While Sara wanted to capture her emotions through the performance of the artmaking process itself, Federico performed to receive a visual representation of his state of being. The exhibition will be on display through August 31.
Both attracted to the capacities of the human senses and a shared fascination with the nature of the photographic image. In this body of work these two artists focus on the process of transforming their own senses and actions in the total darkness into the image they create. This lack of control and the need for meditative actions enables an acceptance of what comes out of photographic paper that appears in front of them.
Mixing chemicals, medicines and fire on one side and water, plants and organic elements on the other, they both use their domestic space to investigate the boundaries of perception in their process.
