About the Artist:
As he paints, Stewart Forrest's underlying inspiration is drawn from the theories of quantum physics and the fundamental patterns of nature. His current fascination with the process of decay manifests itself through the depiction of abandoned farmhouses and industrial buildings, suggesting larger implications for the cultural institutions of religion and society.
Forrest's paintings move between abstraction and a shifted vision of reality while always maintaining a rich ember of illumination at their core. Through contemplation and meditation the artist achieves creative freedom, allowing him to become immersed in the process of his art. He ensures vivacity and freshness by exploring a variety of experimental techniques such as cooking and embossing his acrylic mediums and oil paints to give his canvases a unique textural finish.
Growing up in the South West corner of Western Australia, Forrest studied art and design at the South West College of TAFE. Now living in Norway, his works have been featured in numerous solo and joint exhibitions throughout both Norway and Australia. He is the cofounder of Bergen's Gallery Forrest - Shadeshape & Finearts.
About the Exhibition:
The Essence of Abstraction provides a feast for the eyes, presenting the work of artists who allow their glowing inner conviction and inspiring sense of reality and its fully dynamic nature to spill out into their works, animating and enlivening each piece. The result is art that stirs the imagination and touches the heart.
