Endre Aalrust @ Daniel Reich Gallery in New York

The up and coming Norwegian artist Endre Aalrust's exhibition Free Lunch will be on display at Daniel Reich Gallery in New York between April 12 and May 15.

Free Lunch is the debut New York exhibition of Norwegian artist Endre Aalrust. A starkly aesthetic brew of associative symbolism, material and gesture; Aalrust's images and titles are boldly provocative. His helter-skelter use of material and sub-cultural imagery seems to contrast the predictable and conformable nature of everyday life.

This exhibition features images of alienated bohemians, punks and rebels - highlighting the detail of fashion and gesture. Aalrust is often playing with homoerotic imagry in his works, as well as drawing up numerous associations to neo-nazism, to the rise of white supremacist movements in Northern Europe in the wake of the fall of the iron curtain, and to similarly dark undercurrents in society.

Aalrust studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Bergen, Norway where he did an exchange at St Martins College in London.
