Norwegian Artist Sol Kjøk has been awarded the National Academy Museum & School of Fine Arts Recipient of The Edwin Austin Abbey Mural Workshop Fellowship. Exhibition of the artists' maquettes and two-dimensional designs with an Opening Reception on Friday, July 30, 5-7 pm, at the National Academy School of Fine Arts.

The Incorporated Edwin Austin Abbey Memorial Scholarships for Mural Painting in the United States of America awards fellowships to living artists and collaborates on various projects to record mural history and increase the visibility of public art in America. The National Academy Museum & School of Fine Arts have announced the following 2010 recipients of The Edwin Austin Abbey Mural Workshop Fellowship:

JULIA WHITNEY BARNES, MELANIE BAKER, BETH CLEVENSTINE, YVETTE COHEN, DARIA DOROSH, DAVE EPPLEY, ROBERT FRANCA, SOL KJØK, CHARLES KOPELSON, DEANNA LEE, ALEX MOSLEY, CAROL SALMANSON

Led by Grace Graupe-Pillard, the 2010 Abbey Mural Workshop includes critiques and lectures provided by several noted artists, architects, art historians and public art administrators including R.M. Fischer, Andrew Ginzel, Richard Haas, Joyce Kozloff, Ellen Lanyon, Bernard Olshan, Dorothea Rockburne and Janet Zweig.

There will be an exhibition of the artists' maquettes and two-dimensional designs with an Opening Reception on Friday, July 30, 5-7 p.m.
at the National Academy School of Fine Arts located at 5 East 89th Street in Manhattan. The works will remain on display through September 1, 2010.
