Sarah Zuckerman's visit to the beautiful Lofoten Islands last summer has resulted in an exhibition called "Norway". The exhibition will be on display in Adams Morgan in DC with an opening reception Saturday May 19 from 6:00- 8:00 PM.
The collection “Norway” by local artist Sarah Zuckerman is a series of photographs encompassing her time as an Artist in Residence at Kunstnerhuset i Lofoten in June and July 2011.Having never before been to Norway, she had a lifelong desire to travel to the land where her grandmother spent her childhood. Her photographs are an intimate view of northern Norway during the summer months when it becomes the land of the midnight sun. These images explore the full spectrum of natural light as it touches the breathtaking landscape and waters.
Sarah grew up in Franklin, Massachusetts and graduated from Massachusetts College of Art and Design with distinction from the 2D Fine Arts Department in 2009. In addition to photography, Sarah is passionate in different mediums of printmaking. At the Boston Printmakers’ North American Biennial in 2009 she was awarded the Arches Paper Award for her piece “Figures in Blue”. After graduation she was the director of Panopticon Gallery of Photography where she curated several exhibitions of world-renowned photographers. She recently relocated to Arlington, Virginia and is currently teaching art classes at Northern Virginia and Maryland Public Schools.
