Directed by Liv Ullmann, ‘A Streetcar Named Desire’ with Cate Blanchett in the lead is playing at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. through November 21. USA Today gives Ullmann’s rendition three and a half star out of four.
"Ullmann and Blanchett have very strong ideas about the character, her pain, the mythology she constructs about herself and the way she ultimately unravels, feelings they explored in rehearsals that both describe as intense and lively," writes the Washington Post.
‘Streetcar’ runs at the Kennedy Center's Eisenhower Theater through November 21, and then at the Brooklyn Academy of Music from November 27 to December 20, 2009.
