With 10 percent of the European movie production coming from the Nordic countries, this deserves a celebration in the world capital of film.
Five Norwegian films will be screened at the Scandinavian Film Festival in Los Angeles (SFFLA), which celebrates its 15th anniversary this year. For the first time, the SFFLA will also include films from Baltic neighboring countries, Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia, in collaboration with the Baltic Film Expo.
Among the Norwegian films, you will find this year’s Norwegian Oscar entry, I am Yours (“Jeg er din”, 2013), directed by Iram Haq. Before Snowfall (“Før snøen faller”, 2013) will take you on an unconventional roadtrip, and is directed by the Kurdish-Norwegian Hisham Zaman. Among other Scandinavian entries are the critically acclaimed Eat, Sleep, Die (Äta, Sova, Dö, Sweden, 2013) and The Hunt (“Jagten”, Denmark, 2013).
The festival takes place at the Writer’s Guild Theater in Beverly Hills, the two weekends January 18-19 and January 25-26.
