The award winning documentary about the Norwegian painter Edvard Munch, "Munch 150", is coming to cinemas all over the U.S. June 27.

This year, Norway is celebrating the 150th anniversary of the birth of the great Norwegian painter, Edvard Munch (1863-1944). Munch is one of the towering figures of modern art, and is perhaps most famous for "The Scream." As not everyone will get the chance to see the touring exhibition of Munch's paintings in real life, this is a great opportunity to experience them – and the artist’s life story – via the cinema.

With 220 paintings on display, the documentary presents a great number of Munch's key works all in one place. The film goes behinds the scenes to present some of the process of putting the exhibition together, as well as a tour of Norway that provides an in-depth biography of a man who lived from the mid-19th century right through to the German occupation of Norway in the Second World War.

Norwegian and international guests also offer their expert insight and knowledge. The movie’s host is art historian Tim Marlow.
