U.S. Army Colonel awarded at the Norwegian Embassy

Last updated: 2/27/2012 // Friday Feb. 24th Colonel Larry J. Redmon was awarded the Armed Forces Medal for International Operations with Laurels, for his contribution to thye successful mission of Norwegian Special Forces in Kabul 2008.

The medalHe worked as primary responsible for partnering and mentoring in ISAF’s (International Security Assistance Force) headquarters during the Norwegian deployment in Kabul.

From previous service in the region, he had substantial experience in training / mentoring of security forces in Asia. This experience he used to support Norwegian development of the Afghan Police CRU (Crisis Response Unit) in Kabul.
 
Defence Attaché Grytting decorates Colonel RedmonIn a speech at the Norwegian Ambassador’s residence, Military Attachè Grytting commended Colonel Redmon. “He promoted the job Norway SOF did for the CRU in a realistic and relevant way, without taking any glory himself. He also followed up the project with the CRU at ISAF headquarters in a highly professional manner, which contributed greatly to the US and Norway achieving good results and progress in capacity building of the CRU”.

After receiving the medal the Colonel showed his appreciation by thanking the ambassador for the medal.”Both working with the Norwegians in Kabul, and receiving this medal has been humbling experiences”, the coonel stated.
