On Feb. 15th Ambassador Strommen participated in the launch of the Congressional Nordic Caucus. Sweden’s environment minister, Ms. Lena Ek, discussed how the Nordic countries are transitioning to low carbon economies. Her address was followed by short remarks from the Nordic ambassadors and representatives present.
In his remarks Ambassador Strommen in particular emphasised Norway’s responsibility in bringing carbon capture and storage (CCS) forward. The International Energy Agency has identified CCS as a key abatement option to keep global warming below the dangerous 2°C threshold, and Norway is committed to develop CCS as a viable technology.
