In MN, "Empowerment of Women" at Norway House

5/3/2011 // Norway House hosted on behalf of Oslo Peace Centre a spectacular dinner overlooking downtown Minneapolis on May 4, 2011. Distinguished guests from the Twin Cities were invited to network.

The evening started with a dinner at the Walker Art Centre, with the main speaker Former Prime Minister Kjell Magne Bondevik, founder of Oslo Centre for Peace and Human Rights, praising Norway House and the local Oslo Centre for Peace chapter in Minneapolis for their dedication and hard work.

Furthermore he updated the crowd on Norway’s aid campaigns to Africa and the spreading of democracy throughout the world.

After having a spectacular dinner and enjoying the evening sunset, the crowd enthusiastically went downstairs to the Walker Art Center to listen to the panelists speak on the topic of "Empowerment of Women through Education and Economics." The panelists were Norwegian Parliament member Ingjerd Schou and the Chairperson of the Norwegian Polytechnic Society Millennium Group, Nyonga Rugumayo Amundsen. The moderator was Carol Engebretsen Byrne of the Minnesota International Center.

The event was open to the public and everyone had an opportunity to hear a discussion of the importance of education and economics for women in the peace process.
