Established with a grant from the Peace Research Institute in Oslo (PRIO), The Peace Research Endowment supports original, world-class research on peace and war with the aim to stimulate debate and to assist policy makers and practitioners in promoting peaceful resolution of conflicts.

This is the first time a Norwegian academic research centre has launched a sister institution in the United States.

The event, Monday 12 of March, is planned with generous assistance from Abigail E. Disney, a board member of the Endowment,
who made the documentary “Pray the Devil Back to Hell” together with Gini Reticker.
The film tells the story of how Gbowee mobilized Liberian women to play a pivotal role in ending the country's civil war.

The celebration will feature 2011 Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Leymah Gbowee herself.
