In Oslo, Ms. Clinton will attend a conference on global health, which will focus on maternal and child health in developing countries. She will also meet with Norwegian Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg and Foreign Minister Jonas Gahr Støre.
Ms. Clinton will also visit Tromsø in northern Norway, focusing on further cooperation in the Arctic regions. During the visit, Ms. Clinton also wants to meet with survivors from the Utøya island massacre of July 22, 2011.
“I look forward to welcoming U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton to Norway. This visit will be a good opportunity to further develop the extensive and fruitful cooperation between Norway and the United States. I also hope Clinton’s trip to Tromsø will be exciting and that she will gain insight into new opportunities in the High North,” said Foreign Minister Støre.
While this will be Ms. Clinton’s first visit to Norway as U.S. Secretary of State, she previously visited Svalbard as a U.S. senator and Lillehammer as the U.S. First Lady.
