Sex and the Office - a Conversation in New York

Meet Norway's Director General in the Royal Ministry of Children, Equality and Social Inclusion, Arni Hole, in conversation with award-winning journalist Celeste Headlee and writer and journalist Mary Elizabeth Williams. Topics for the talk will be gender equality and work-life balance in a dynamic global economy. The conversation will be followed by a reception with cocktails. The event takes place at 7 pm on February 27th at CORE: club 66 in New York, on 66 East 55th street, between Park and Madison Avenue. This event is co-hosted by Center for American Progress, the Norwegian Consulate in New York and the Norwegian Mission to the UN.

What are the differences and similarities between the Norwegian and the American approach to gender in the workforce? What kinds of policies help women and men balance their personal and professional responsibilities, goals and ambitions? A dedicated and outspoken panel will elaborate on these questions on February 27th. 

Ms. Arni Hole is Director General in the Royal Ministry of Children, Equality and Social Inclusion in Norway. She heads the Department of Family and Equality. Ms. Hole is widely engaged in international affairs and a popular speaker in national and international foras, especially within the field of gender equality and family and work life issues. Arni Hole is married to an economist and they have raised five children together.

Ms. Celeste Headlee is the co-host of The Takeaway, a national morning news program co-produced by WNYC, BBC, New York Times and Public Radio International (PRI). She has over a decade of on- and off-air experience in both local and national public radio productions. Her news reports have aired on NPR, the Pacifica Network, National Native News and PRI.

Ms. Mary Elizabeth Williams is a senior staff writer for Salon.com and the author of "Gimme My Shelter: My Three Years Searching for the American Dream". She has written for The New York Times and The New York Observer and appeared on NPR, CNN, NBC Nightly News and MSNBC. Flavorwire has named her one of the ten most fearless women on the web. She balances work and family in New York City.
