Norwegian social media task force visits Washington

Last updated: 2/18/2011 // A Norwegian interdepartmental task force on social media visited Washington this week. The visit was concluded with a talk with Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's senior advisor for innovation, Mr. Alec Ross.

During their week in Washington D.C., the group attended a two day seminar, and visited institutions such as the United States Department of Health and Human Services, the Federal Emergency Management Agency, and also met with a number of significant people and institutions in the social media field.

Senior Advisor Ross delivered valuable input from his impressive experience with the use of new technology in governmental work, as he was brought in by the Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton, to the State Department with the mission to make government policies more available to people using social media.

The Norwegian "Interdepartemental Task Force on Social Media" is a group created on request from information managers in the different Ministries, assigned to explore the use of social media in governmental work.

The group consist of Tor Midtbø, Stian Stang Christiansen, Magnus Ridola, Roger Holmsen, Ann Kristin Lindaas, Andreas Keus, Ragnhild H. Simenstad, Kjell Brataas, Eivind Skogen, Gorm Haug Eriksen, Elin Bjerkebo and Kristina Brekke Jørgensen - all representing different Ministries.
