FM Støre Meets with Norwegian Students

Last updated: 12/14/2010 // During his visit to the U.S. earlier this month, Norwegian Foreign Minister Jonas Gahr Støre met with Norwegians students in Boston for a discussion about Norwegian foreign policy.

The meeting was held at Harvard Law School. It was organized by the Norwegian Embassy in Washington, D.C. and the Association of Norwegian Students Abroad (ANSA).

The Foreign Minister spoke to the students of the need for Norway to promote its interests and find its identity in a changing world. He invited the students to ask questions regarding Norwegian foreign policy.

Støre, a former board member of ANSA, was welcomed by the chairman of ANSA, New England's Torbjørn S. Larssen. The arrangers were pleased that so many Norwegian students took a break from exam preparations to attend the meeting with the Foreign Minister.

The government aims to increase the number of Norwegian students in the U.S.

“I am happy to report an increasing number of Norwegian students in the U.S. Presently there are 1,139 degree-seeking students, which is an increase of 12% from last year,” said Anita R. Asbjørnsen, Director of International Education in North America.
