Amundsen 100 Year Anniversary Exhibit in Minneapolis
Last updated: 8/28/2012 //
The Royal Norwegian Consulate General in Minneapolis was pleased to announce the opening of the Roald Amundsen 100 Year Anniversary Exhibit in downtown Minneapolis on Thursday, August 17, 2012. Honorary Consul General Gary Gandrud opened the exhibit, which commemorates the life of Roald Amundsen, a Norwegian, who in 1911 became the first man to reach the South Pole.
The Mayor of Minneapolis, R.T. Rybak, was there to give a greeting, noting how wonderful it was to have such an exhibition in our downtown Minneapolis area.
Will Steger, a North Pole explorer, provided an account on the hardships that Amundsen and his crew had to face on their journey to the South Pole. The exhibit tells the story from the beginning to the end of that extraordinary journey.
We invite the entire community to visit this fascinating exhibit in the ATT Tower in downtown Minneapolis. We hope the exhibit will be particularly inspiring for the younger generation. The exhibit is open to the public, and will remain open until September 30, 2012.
We hope that you enjoy!
