RECAP OF THE 2012 SEMINAR: On March 7, 2012 the Norwegian Embassy hosted the Henry Bacon seminar, a yearly seminar addressing "Maritime Opportunities and Challenges in the High North.”
The seminar is held in memory of the crew of a US Navy vessel that sacrificed itself off Northern Norway during World War II to save the lives of many others. State Secretary Rikke Lind at the Ministry of Trade and Industry in Oslo was key note speaker at the seminar, which was chaired by Norwegian Ambassador Wegger Strommen.
Lind was supplemented by a host of exceptionally qualified US and Norwegian speakers from the private and governmental sector who covered a range of subjects addressing the opportunities and challenges that lay ahead in the High North, ref. enclosed program.
The seminar drew a full house at the Army & Navy Club in Washington, with high-ranking representatives of numerous US government agencies, the diplomatic corps and the business community in DC and elsewhere.
