Innovation House Opened in Silicon Valley

Last updated: 11/2/2011 // Monday October 24, 2011, HRH Crown Prince Haakon of Norway officially opened Innovation Norway's Innovation House in Palo Alto. In high-tech Silicon Valley, traditional ribbon cutting seemed rather obsolete, and the Crown Prince therefore decleared Innovation House opened on Twitter.

Developed in close cooperation between Norwegian companies, venture capital investors, and Innovation Norway’s San Francisco office, Innovation House will be a be a meeting place and a base camp for Norwegian start-ups, entrepreneurs, and companies wishing to gain a foothold in the dynamic Silicon Valley- region.

The opening was celebrated with a reception organized by Innovation Norway and the Royal Norwegian Consulate General San Francisco. Over 100 guests were present, many of whom represented Norwegian companies and their American partners. In his opening speech, the Crown Prince emphasized the importance of establishing a Norwegian innovation hub in Silicon Valley:

"If Norwegian companies are to keep track with the changing times and understand the technological trends that will influence the world in the years to come, a permanent presence here in Silicon Valley is vital. The opening of Innovation House reflects Norway's desire to take an active part in exploring new research and technology frontiers."
