Dear Friends of Transatlantic Science Week

Last updated: 8/24/2011 // It is exciting to see the scientific program for this year’s Science Week at UCBerkeley and Stanford University develop. It is still a draft program and some changes must be expected. The Bay Area is famous for excellent research and an extraordinary culture for innovation. It is appropriate that we call Science Week 2011 “Innovation Frontiers”.[You may download the program from the right hand column on this page.]

The main program at UCBerkeley on the 25th and 26th of October will focus on renewable energy and climate issues, based on the strength of UCBerkeley and Norwegian research in these areas. There will also be workshops dedicated to Space Science, Education Science, Marine science and Oceans Monitoring.

The program for the 27th of October at Stanford University looks to be equally exciting. We still lack some details before we will post this part of the program on our web site. However, at Stanford we can promise exciting presentations displaying science with a potential to become technologies for the future. There will be workshops based on ongoing collaborations between Stanford and Norwegian researchers. There will also be a dedicated session highlighting knowledge based companies in global collaborations. A panel discussion on Managing Universities for Innovation is also being planned.

On Friday 28th of October there will be site visits to IBM Almaden Research Centre, NASA Research Park and Google. All along there will be ample time to mingle and connect.

We aim at making this year's Transatlantic Science Week an arena for contact and commitment for future scientific collaboration between Norway and North America, and specifically with UCBerkeley and Stanford University as two of the best Universities in the world. We hope to see you in San Francisco in October. Follow us on this web-site and you will find updated information on the program, registration, hotels and other practical issues.
