Join artists Irene Christensen and Carmen Hay Kolodzey as they celebrate eleven years of open studio in Chelsea, New York. Expect a lot of color!
4/8/2008 :: Norwegian artist Irene Christensen uses traditional oil techniques as well as mixed media. Her art consists both of paintings and box art, and is full of humor and color. She is currently also guest artist resident at Peter's Valley Craft Center in New Jersey. You can read more about that here.
Christensen shares her studio with Carmen Hay Kolodzey, who does both paintings, installations and works on paper. Kolodzey works with patterned fabrics that are deconstructed into fringes and then hand-sewn onto canvas and combined with paint. "I consider it an achievement if the viewer of my work is attracted by its beauty and at the same time is inspired by its social message," she states on her website.
