On May 2, five leading Nordic designers come to New York City to discuss new trends in Scandinavian design.
4/27/2005 :: Riding a wave of major international interest and acclaim, a new generation of Scandinavians is producing ground-breaking designs with a pace and ingenuity that rivals that of Scandinavia's golden age during the 1950s. Crafting pioneering designs that encompass textiles, consumer products, glassware, furniture, and architecture, Scandinavians are rethinking tradition by effortlessly mixing timeless concerns with contemporary conceptual notes.
The panel includes a group of five leading young designers, one from each Nordic country, spanning a wide range of design disciplines:
OLE JENSEN (Denmark), a designer and ceramist for Royal Copenhagen
KIVI SOTAMAA (Finland), an architect and furniture designer
HRAFNKELL BIRGISSON (Iceland), a product designer
CATHRINE MASKE (Norway), a glass designer
MONICA FÖRSTER (Sweden), a furniture designer
