The Danish Poet, which recently won the Academy Award for best animated short, has been selected to participate in the upcoming ninth BAMkids Film Festival at the Brooklyn Academy of Music.
The film was directed by Norwegian Torill Kove, who now lives in Montreal, Canada. It will participate in a segment of the festival called "Secrets and Surprises, and is joined by many other both very funny and thoughtful animated short films from all over the world. The Secrets and Surprises segment is intended for an audience ages 9-13.
The Norwegian film is about a Danish poet who gets a bad case of writer’s block and travels to Norway to seek inspiration from his idol, the Nobel Prize-winning author Sigrid Undset.
The festival program is diverse and varied, with films suitable for children of all ages, and many of the screenings have a Q&A with the filmmakers at the end.
