The concert will take place at Zankel Hall at Carnegie Hall on September 23. Darrett Adkins will be accompanied by the world renowned pianist Ann Schein.
Cellist Darrett Adkins belongs to a new generation of American musicians who are redefining the concert experience. His critically acclaimed performances of contemporary music have inspired critics to call him "Stunning", "Intensely involving", "Heroic", and "Fiery". His appetite to bridge the world between the established tradition and the avant-garde enables him to explore repertoire in almost every genre from the classical cannon to the contemporary frontier. Mr. Adkin's earned his Doctorate of Musical Arts from The Juilliard School.
Pianist Ann Schein has a distinguished career, having appeared in over 50 countries worldwide with major orchestras and conductors to critical acclaim: “….she simply reaches right into the heart of whatever she is playing and creates music so powerful you cannot tear yourself away.” Washington Post.
For 20 years, violinist Earl Carlyss was a member of The Juilliard String Quartet. He is the director of the Aspen Center for Advanced Quartet Studies and since 1986 has been on the faculty of the Peabody Conservatory. He also teaches violin and chamber Music at The Juilliard School. He frequently appears in duo recital with his wife Ann Schein.
