The new Partnership Program for higher education collaboration between institutions in Norway and the U.S. and Canada, has recently been announced.
4/23/2008 :: The Partnership Program aims to stimulate increased cooperation between institutions, by building academic networks and strengthening exchange between Norway and the U.S. and Canada. The program is administered by Center for Internationalization of Higher Education (SIU) in Bergen, which recently announced a call for proposals of twelve four-year projects, where each will receive a grant of 250.000 NOK (approx 50.000 USD).
The Partnership Program is a part of the Norwegian Ministry of Education’s North-America Strategy for higher education collaboration for 2008-2011. It aims to strengthen and diversify existing bonds between institutions of higher education in Norway and the U.S. and Canada, and to encourage innovative ideas and projects in the field of educational cooperation between the countries. The Ministry of Education emphasises that the projects should consist of different elements like student- and faculty exchange, summer schools, joint degrees and shared curricula. North-American institutions interested in participating in the partnership program should contact their Norwegian partners, as it is they who have to apply to SIU for the funding. More information about the program can be found on SIU's homepage.
