The Coordinator of International Education at the Norwegian Consulate General in New York works to promote student mobility and educational links between Norway and North-America.
The Coordinator's main functions are information gathering and dissemination – ensuring that Norwegian students can get correct and updated information, whether they wish to study in North-America, are currently attending a university here, or are returning to Norway. The FAQ list of topics includes:
- general university information
- financing of studies
- evaluation of Norwegian education
- recognition of foreign credentials in Norway
- student visa, optional practical training and working in the US or Canada
To do this, the Coordinator's tasks include:
- visiting universities in the US and Canada to inform admission offices and international student office about Norwegian higher education and the admission of Norwegian students.
- working closely with organizations and institutions in Norway and North-America, such as ANSA, the Norwegian State Educational Loan Fund (Lånekassen), Fulbright, the American-Scandinavian Foundation, AACU, NORTANA, SIU and the other Norwegian foreign missions in the US and Canada.
- participating in seminars and meetings focusing on international student mobility.
