Thor Heyerdahl Jr. will be visiting Houston, TX to participate in INTSOKs 10th annual US-Norway Technology Conference and Workshops, that will take place on February 27th and 28th, 2008. At the conference he will give a personal account of his father’s adventurous life in addition to a presentation of his own engagement regarding oil pollution at sea.

Thor Heyerdahl Jr. is a marine biologist by profession, and son of the late explorer and anthropologist Thor Heyerdahl, famous for his Kon-Tiki and RA I and II expeditions. Thor Heyerdahl Jr. sits as chairman of the board at the Kon-Tiki Museum in Oslo, Norway. At the Conference he will give a personal account of his father’s adventurous life, starting with his back to nature honeymoon in Polynesia, through World War II participation, the Kon-Tiki expedition and later Ra- and Tigris expeditions, crossing the world oceans on primitive crafts to test the validity of his prehistoric migration and cultural contact theories. He will touch upon the first profound archaeological excavations ever on the Easter Islands, the worlds most extensive archaeological excavations at the time in Tucume, Peru. Thor Heyerdahl Jr. will also present his engagement regarding oil pollution at sea.
The topic for this years INTSOK Conference is ”Brown field rejuvenation and subsea tieback- leveraging proven technologies to increase recovery and extend field life.” The Conference will take place at OMNI Houston Hotel and Thor Heyerdahl Jr. is the guest of honoe. At the Conference there will be speakers from regulatory authorities, service providers and key operators.
