Divers and their relatives may still seek compensation

Second announcement - Compensation for diving on the Norwegian Continental shelf 1965-1990

3/3/2008 ::

A white paper on diving was passed by the Norwegian Parliament 9. March 2004. The Norwegian Government’s wish to acknowledge the divers who worked on the Norwegian Continental Shelf in the early days of the petroleum industry resulted in a solution of offering individual compensations to certain divers. Those who worked on the Norwegian Continental Shelf in the period 1965-1990 and were injured in work related accidents during this period are included in the new scheme. The total compensation can amount to a maximum payment of approx: 2,5 million Norwegian kroner and is given to members of the Norwegian social security system only, either one is member today or was member during the above-mentioned period. The Government has appointed a committee to administrate the individual compensations. Judge Stein Husby at Kongsberg tingrett is the leader of this committee. Applications must be submitted before 1. July 2006. Information concerning the above has also been duly announced in autumn 2004.
