This week several Norwegian artists will be performing at the South by Southwest festival in Austin, Texas.
South by Soutwest is one of the largest music, film and interactive fesitvals in the U.S., with about 1,500 bands participating in 2008. Norwegian bands have started to make themselves known in the dynamic musical environment of Austin and Texas.
This year some 16 Norwegian artists or groups have been booked to play, and the Norwegian Øya Festival has been invited to promote themselves over the course of the week. The Norwegian delegation's musical style is very diverse, ranging from black metal, through hip-hop to soft-pop and jazz.
