"The Master Builder" at Aurora Theatre, Berkeley

 Date:1/27/2006 - 3/5/2006

EXTENDED to March 12! From January 27 to March 5, you may enjoy Ibsen's "The Master Builder" at Aurora Theatre, Berkeley. The performance is the world premiere of the new translation by Paul Walsh.

3/6/2007 :: On the centenary of Ibsen’s death, Aurora is presenting Ibsen’s most autobiographical drama. The Master Builder examines the life of architect Halvard Solness, once ruthlessly ambitious, but now, in his later years, threatened by the younger generation and worried about the erosion of his own creativity. As this masterpiece progresses, Solness’s life is irrevocably changed by the arrival of a beautiful young woman and the secrets they share. This powerful look at ego and empire building was groundbreaking in its use of psychological realism (Freud stated this was his favorite play), possessing a quality attempted but seldom duplicated by playwrights since.
