”The Wild Duck” at BAM

 Date:10/25/2006 - 10/29/2006
 Type:Ibsen
 Location:New York

Directed by Eirik Stubø. The standout cast of Norway’s Nationaltheateret brings a rich humanity to Ibsen’s highly metaphorical drama in a distinctly nuanced performance, capturing the fear, failings, and self-deception that mar its characters with pitch-perfect accuracy and giving its final, tragic act the brutal force of a hammer blow. Opens at Brooklyn Academy of Music on October 25.

Founded in 1899, Oslo’s Nationaltheateret has become the city’s principal theater and one of Scandinavia’s Leading theater presenters through diverse and distinguished programs of classic and modern dramas. The Nationaltheateret’s annual Ibsen festival has established the theater as one of the world’s great interpreters of the playwright’s work, while under the leadership of Artistic Director Eirik Stubø, festivals of contemporary drama have also become part of the theater’s regular lineup. Starring Bjørn Skagestad, Eindride Eidsvold, Kai Remlov, Birgitte Larsen, Laila Goody and Petronella Barker. Performed in Norwegian with English subtitles.
