Arve Thorvik

Arve Thorvik is serving as a member of the governing bodies of the EU Technology Platform for Zero Emissions Power, and is also a member of the European Climate Change Program working group.

5/24/2007 :: Thorvik has a M.A. degree in political science from Drew University in New Jersey, after attending University of Bergen and Georgetown School of Foreign Service.

He served in the Norwegian foreign service for 16 years, with postings in Lagos, Geneva and Washington D.C. Worked in Norwegian industry associations from 1989 to 1997, first as Vice President for International Affairs in the Confederation of Business and industry (NHO) and later as Director General of the Federation of Process Indsutries (PIL). Later, he joined Statoil in 1997 as Senior Vice President for Health, Safety and Environment. Thorvik spent three years (2000 - 2003) on secondment to the World Business Council for Sustainable Development in Geneva, as Project Director for the global "Sustainable Mobility" project.

In 2003 he established the Statoil EU Affairs Office in Brussels, where he has since served as Vice President for EU Affairs.

Mr. Thorvik has been involved in climate change policies nationally and internationally for more than a decade. He is presently serving as member of the governing bodies of the EU Technology Platform for Zero Emissions Power, where he also chairs the Task Force on Policy and Regulations. He is also a member of the European Climate Change Program working group, and a frequent speaker on these subjects.
