The teaching is online and is weekly based. The students and their teacher do not have to be online at the same time. This is a flexible program for the families, but still with a fixed structure through the school year. The offer is suitable for families who want to stay in touch with Norway and Norwegian language.
The education
Globalskolen offers courses with an emphasis on reading and writing. The curriculum of Globalskolen is based on the Norwegian national curriculum considering both content and methodology. The program has been approved by the Education Directorate and is a part of “Complementary education for children abroad”. The offer also applies to students who have Norwegian as a second language. Students are expected to study for a minimum of 90 minutes per week in each semester. There are two semesters a 15 weeks per year
About Globalskolen
- Globalskolen is approved by the Education Directorate.
- The school was started in 1998, and with its more more than 1500 students in September 2012 it is the biggest complementary school for students abroad.

Criteria for participation
- The student must have a residence abroad for at least one semester (six months).
- The student must attend a local or international school.
- The student must have a Norwegian social security number.
- For the school year 2012-2013 the student must have been born between 1th January 1997 and 31th December 2006.
Application deadlines
Spring term 2013: 30th January
By 31.7.2012 the state will end the grants to groups and parents conducting supplementary instruction. The scheme continues for online schools, and Globalskolen is ready to accept more students. For more information and net based application visit: www.globalskolen.no.
