Welcome to Consular Services in the U.S.

Welcome to the Consular Services of the Embassy of Sweden in Washington, D.C., the Royal Norwegian Consulates General in New York, Minneapolis and Houston, and the Consulate General of Sweden in Los Angeles. As of April 1, 2008, the Swedish Embassy in Washington, D.C. will handle all the Schengen visa applications for Norway in the larger Washington, D.C. region. The Consulate General of Sweden in Los Angeles will handle all Norwegian and Swedish Schengen visa applications for the western U.S. region.

The Swedish Embassy Consular Section: Monday-Tuesday, Thursday-Friday: 2 pm to 4 pm

The Consulates General Consulate Sections: 9 am  to 12 pm
The Consular Sections are open to the public (Monday through Friday)

Visas:
You may apply for a Schengen visa through any of the Consulates listed on the right hand side of this page.
An application form may be found under Visas, on the left-hand menu.

Passports:
Norwegian Foreign Service missions now only accept applications for machine-readable passports. The applicant must meet in person at a Foreign Service mission when applying for a passport. The passport will be printed in Norway, and the processing time will be approximately 5 to 6 weeks. In emergency cases, a hand written passport may be issued by the Foreign Service mission.

Translations:
The Royal Norwegian Embassy in Washington and the Consulates General can translate official documents such as birth- and baptism certificates, marriage- and drivers licenses, death certificates and divorce agreements - from Norwegian to English. Cost for each translation is $20 and, if desired, FedEx $20. Please contact the Foreign Service Missions closest to you for further information.
